CLASS HISTORY In 1946, twenty intelligent youngsters boarded a rocket - their destination was Urbana on the planet Earth. The captain was Maxine Miller and the passengers included Marjorie Monce, Mary Ann Weck, Betty Bates, Nancy Hoover, Sally Jacobs, Wayne Dawes, Wendel Dawes, Myrval Miller, Larry Karns, Gary Miller, John Rush, Janet Driscoll, Karmen Karns, Bernie Cole, Corwin Keaffaber, Luther Allen, Jerry Carver, Pat Keaffaber, Arlyn Moore, and David Bean. A year later we landed on Pluto to refuel. In the proces three natives, Philip and Gail Clark, Becky Hiner, and their captain, Mrs. Long, became interested in our rocket and decided to go along with us. Since this was more than we could carry, Jerry Carver, Corwin Keaffaber, and our former captain decided to stay on Pluto. As we journeyed around the sun's orbit, we developed some engine trouble and had to land on Mercury for repairs, Roberta Akers was our mechanic and we took her along with us in case of further difficulty. As we blasted off we hit a gigantic tailwiad which jolted us so terrifically that Bernie Cole, Luther Allen, Arlyn Moore, John Rush, Gail and Philip Clark, Larry Karns, Corwin Keaffaber, and Mrs. Storer fell out. Passing the milky way we saw poor Clyde Holmes polishing one of the stars. Feeling sorry for him we stopped and picked up him and his employer, Mrs. Griffiths. Becky Hiner, after developing Mercury fever, became desperately ill and we were forced to land on Neptune. Mrs. Griffiths stayed to care for her. In need of a new captain we picked up John Krieg. Passing through space we caught sight of Arlyn Moore, Peggy Eads, Jackie Corn, Frances LaFerne, John Pollard, Bonnie Gardner, and Marvin Mast clutching to a meteor. So, changing our course, we went to rescue them, but Gary Miller became curious and decided to stay and investigate. At the half-way mark, needing more fuel, we landed on Mars and coasted into a small crater named Lagro. Six little Marsians, Jerry Carver, Rex Grimm, Karen Goebel, June Bowman, Sandra Jester, and Shelvia Wilcox, thirsting for adventure, asked to come along. Johnny Pollard, Arlyn Moore, Roberta Akers, and Frances LaFerne, tired of traveling, decided to stay and rest until the next rocket came through. As we blasted off we narrowly escaped a collision with Sputnik V. As we turned around to look we saw Mike Porter signaling to us. He was quite hungry and lonesome and asked to come with us so we left Rex Grimm to man the satellite. Continuing on we heard distant cries for help. We looked ahead and saw the big dipper. As we flew over we looked down and saw Martha Woodcox, Roberta Akers, and Jim Gilcrest. We took them aboard, but Jim couldn't stand the altitude so we dropped him into the little dipper. Circling the sun we decided to leave Mike Porter, Clyde Holmes, and Martha Woodcox because they had contracted colds. While we were here we saw Steve Gilbert who had a severe sun burn, so we took him aboard to recover. We blasted off again and a short time later the moon came into view. Janet Driscoll, Jackie Corn, and Jerry Carver asked us to land here so they could taste green cheese. Twleve years after we started our journeytwe reached our destination. The passengers who had completed the trip were Roberta Akers, Betty Bates, June Bowman, Wayne Dawes, Wendel Dawes, Peggy Eads, Steve Gilbert, Karen Goebel, Nancy Hoover, Sally Jacobs, Sandra Jester, Karmen Karns, Pat Keaffaber, Myrval Miller, Marvin Mast, Marjorie Monce, Mary Ann Weck, and Shelvia Wilcox. But Bonnie Gardner remembering our wonderful trip boarded another rocket for outerspace.
