Since then, we have engaged in a great struggle, testing whether that student or any student so green can long endure. We have come to dedicate a portion of our history as a class to those teachers who have strived so hard that we students might survive. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. At the beginning of our seventh year our class numbered 14. During the year we gained Josephine Blevins. Mr. Weck was our class sponsor. For various reasons Spencer Futrell. Jim Gurtner, and John Eads left us. This decreased our number to 12. Then Janet Campbell decided to move from Lagro to Urbana. Mr. Week was our sponsor again. During the last semester our class was again lowered to twelve due to the departure of Josephine Blevins. At the beginning of the ninth year we welcomed five new members: James Earhart, Malcolm Figert David Fowler, Betty Carroll, and Ernest Wilcox. The total then being 15 freshmen. Our class sponsor was Mr. Olinger. Later in the year our class lost Malcolm Figert, which left us with a class of 14. when we returned as sophomores in 1952 we were subject to some more changes. We gained two students from Lagrog Joan and Karl Bartoo. Those who left us were Katherine Ringel. Janet Campbell, Ernest Wilcox, James Eaghart, and Loren Rife. Near the end of the second grading period we welcomed a new members Terry Bgis from Tipton. Our class now stood at 14. Our class sponsor was Mrs. links. We sped rapidly through our junior year, stopping only long enough to pick up Emma Osmon and bid farewell to two class members, Karl Bartoo and David Fowler. Our junior year was one of many activities. The outstanding ones were the Junior-Senior play, Father was a Housewife , and the Junior-Senior banquet. Our class sponsor was Mr. Krieg. As we were climbing near the peak in our twelfth year we were joined by Rochelle Van De Grift from Laketon, who made our class total 14. Some of the main attractions during the senior year were the Senior play, Here Come the Brides , the trip to Fort Wayne to get the Senior pictures taken. the school paper, and the Christmas Party. Now after May 6, 1955 there are fourteen seniors who can say they graduated from U. H. S. They areg Nancy Biehl. Louise Monce. Cynthia Hairrell, Ioan Bartoo, Sharon Koch. Janice Rife. Emma Osmon, Rochelle Van De Grift. Betty Carroll, Donald Hardman. l-lallis Pressler, Philip Weck, Terry Burris and Vincent Noonan. ,.J, 77 sblllx f Q 4 ' 1 ' L ,QFn, , 'yx 1- I .IL Z : Annette Radabaugh Kay Eiler Dorothy Reed Hilda Jacobsen Sylvia Carver Sandra Haupert Patty Rife Betty Colclesser Doris Gardner Virginia Kotterman Mae Mann Lily Miller DEVERS' GROCERY and RESTAURANT LAUDEMAN'S ELEVATOR, Urbana ra? 7 . f ,iff ' ' ' - N G M if we , , 'K 4 ..., ,W A 4 7 5 K Q ff I Q., :Y Q, I ra -dw-aol' VJ' ' agin g T- ' 2 IQQIE , . ,. , ,ny 93 Jim Rosen John Rarliff Z, . me Ms 3 Qi X ' s r Q I 2 vi W 1 4 KK .W 5 a n mfg, we J , . 43?
