NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The four purposes of this select group are leader ship, character, service, scholarship. Their projects have been, an honor roll, first in many years at UHS, and a school scrap book. An as- sembly was planned under the direction of Miss Kollmeyer to induct new members. This organization, founded at U. H.S. in 1923, is one of the oldest Honor Societies in the state. Membership in this group is the highest honor Urbana High can bestow upon one of its students DAVE, AL and a FRIEND

damned Middx NASS The National Athletic Scholarship Society was instituted in Urbana High School in 1945. Its purposes are: To foster high scholarship among male athletes, To stimulate a desire for bal- anced training, To elevate the ideals of sports- manship, and, To develop more outstanding leaders in the school. Each spring the new members from the sophomore, junior, and senior classes are tapped in an impressive ceremony at a special assembly. To be eligible for membership a boy must have earned a letter in some sport, have achieved a scholastic aver- age above the general average of the school, and have exemplified the highest type of sports- manship and citizenship. QQ R' ve rf' yaawmed Me JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL Governing the student body of the I unior High school, this year completely separated from the High School, is the Junior High Student Council. The students who rep- resent their fellow class-mates were chosen by rooms and laid down the rules and regu- lations followed by the entire student body. Mr. Nagley served as the guiding hand. These students have really done a good job of getting the Junior High off to a flying start, and we hope they continue the same fine work in coming years.
