Under student leadership the Upsala College March- ing Band turned out at the football games to help cheer the team to victory. Bob Ericson, the student director for 1955-56, enter- tained the fans during the halves of football games with brisk marching and entertaining music. Under the co-management of David Cobb and Thomas Town- send, Station WVIK inaugurated its sixth season with a gala re- view featuring popular radio guest stars. With its transmitter com- pletely rebuilt by Dick Sampson, Chief Engineer, with aid of fac- ulty advisor, Professor George Cviianovich, with its broadcasting week extended to 44 hours, the membership of Radio Upsala in- creased to 52 members. Harold Kahn, Program Director, arranged over fifty variety shows per week-from 5 to l l PM, Monday through Thursday- and a program of continuous music from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Voice coaching was under the direction of Deane Parkhurst, Chief Announcer. The radio acquired many newly released records which were carefully filed by Betty Coney, Record Librarian. Art Schoenlaub, Station Business Manager, handled the financial department and the secretarial end of WVIK was managed by Eileen Lower. On Homecoming Day, WVlK's car depicting Washington Crossing the Delaware was awarded the first prize. Through the efforts of John Matarazzo, former Station Man- ager, Radio Upsala hopes to be installed into Rho Tau Sigma, the National Honorary Radio and Television Fraternity.
