It was two weeks of hominy grits and hush puppies this year as the Upsala College Choir went South on their annual mid-semester choir tour. The Viking chor- isters sang their way into Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. As always, the choir tour was highlighted by many and varied antics. Whether our genial choir manager's show me's , the mock wed- ding held at the Williamsburg Lodge, in historic Wil- liamsburg, Virginia, or the annual bestowal of Miss Grindeland's elegant chapeau will bring back the most amusing memories is a moot question. Perhaps one of the most unique compliments ever given to the choir was that ofthe Negro janitor in Media, Pennsylvania, who is reputed to have said, You sure can sing them colored songs for souls as white as you. ln addition to its annual tour, the choir has also sung many concerts in the Metropolitan area. This year the choir has appeared in a Reformation Service in Cranford, N. J., in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Madison Square Garden, and Town Hall in New York City, Jersey City, N. J., and in the Hometown Concert in East Orange. It was also heard over the radio on WRCA during the month of April. Whatever is said about the choir's musical ability, one fact is sure: There are sixty students on Upsala's campus who iust love to sing.
