Ckid H H The Gold U presented to outstanding students at Upsala is considered by most as the highest honor a student can achieve outside the classroom. The Gold U Award- ing Committee, made up of faculty and students, recom- mends students for the award, basing their decisions on citizenship and participation in extra-curricular activities. The awards are presented to the students at the All-Llpsala Banquet during Spring Week. First row: Paul Nelson, W. Breithaupt, N. Amtmann. Sec- ond row: J. Matarazzo, H. James, A. Alstrom, G. Teng- ALPHA PHI OMEGA Alpha Phi Omega is a service fraternity, and the true measure ofa successful chapter is the service rendered to its campus and community and nation. Nu Chapter at Upsala has a definite program of activities in which the pledges and members direct their energies for the benefit of their fellowmen. The purpose of Alpha Phi Omega, as being carried out by all the chapters, is to assemble college men in the fellowship of the Scout Oath and Law, to develop friendship and to promote service to humanity. This program embodies four fields of activity. They are: l . Service to the student body and faculty 2. Service to youth and community 3. Service to members of the fraternity 4. Service to the nation as participating citizens. Being a service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega crosses all lines of honorary, social and pro- fessional fraternities, and thus members of other campus organizations may also be active in this chapter. Through cooperation with other organizations the program of Nu Chapter may be made most effective . The influence of Nu Chapter, Alpha Phi Omega, is felt far beyond the immediate activities ofthe fraternity and its membership. The brothers of this fraternity make their influence felt as a leavening force for constructive activity in student affairs. Scout-trained men must stand for the right in all matters of campus and community life. Nu Chapter's service program is the real jus- - strand, V. Caruso, G. Lengol, C. Price, Third row: J.
