i STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council, an organization which works for the unification of Upsala stu- dents into a representative democratic body, had a successful year under the capable lead- ership of Wendell Breithaupt. This year was highlighted by the first meetings ofthe Judicial Board, chairmaned by Joel Carucci. Its first considerations were the parking and smoking problems onthe campus. The Student Council continued many of its previous activities including freshman tra- ditions, class elections, Open House for parents, pep rallies, Campus Chest and helping with other needs on campus. Ckid H H The Gold U presented to outstanding students at Upsala is considered by most as the highest honor a student can achieve outside the classroom. The Gold U Award- ing Committee, made up of faculty and students, recom- mends students for the award, basing their decisions on citizenship and participation in extra-curricular activities. Their services include ushering at various functions, serving at teas and receptions, and other worthy work on campus. Margie Benson led the girls of Grey Key during 1955-56, while Wendell Breithaupt directed the activities of Blue Key.
