The Chanticleers Male Quartet The Committee on Concerts and Lectures for Upsala College functions to schedule a balanced group of programs, both concerts and lectures, reflecting the obiectives of the college. The topics and entertainments are chosen to appeal to the interest of each member of the faculty and student body, irregardless of their individual ma- ior interest of study. The committee, set up by the Administrative Council in l954, is under the chairmanship of the Director of Public Relations, Mr. George Fenwick. Other members of the group are five faculty members, representing each academic division and three students elected by the Student Council. During 1955-56 the members of this committee were: Miss Gladys Grindeland, Mrs. Georgia Brown, Dr. Herman Stuart, Mr. Earl Dossey, Mr. James Yoltol, Miss Muriel Pack, Miss Alice Hyder, and Mr. Joel Carucci. This year's series brought such outstanding talent to the stage of Christ Chapel as the Chanticleers, a male quartet, Mr. Robert McFerrin, baritone of the Metropolitan Opera Company, and Mr. Donald Berwick, author, editor and lecturer. The Upsala Choral So- ciety presented its annual performance of Handel's Messiah dur- ing the Christmas season. To complete the year's program the Upsala College Choir presented its Hometown Concert late in April. The committee was assisted at the various programs by the Blue and Gray Key organizations who ushered and served at the receptions following the programs. Looking ahead, the committee plans to use the series not only for faculty and student body appreciation but also to promote gen- eral public relations by opening the programs to alumni and friends of Upsala in the surrounding area.
