'Wx Nancy Wood, outgoing queen, posses the crown to her successor, Nancy Ostberg. The band began to play the coronation march, another queen was to be crowned. All eyes turned with anticipation toward the royal proces- sion as it made its way across Viking Field to the outdoor stage. Sixteen sorority representatives, comprising the Daisy Chain led the group followed by Nancy Wood, the outgoing queen and Ron Brown, l954-l 955 Student Council President. The newly elected ruler, Nancy Ostberg, flashing her win- ning smile, was escorted by Wendell Breithaupt to her place of glory. In all the magnificence and splendor, that the occasion de- manded, the Queen was crowned and with solemn dignity Wen- dell Breithaupt received the reins ot Student Council leadership. The traditional burning ofthe U brought the coronation to an end. As the awe-inspiring flames brightened the cloudy sky and the sound of Hail, Hail Upsala filled the air, the audience dis- persed, long to remember this splendid event. The choir sings in honor of the new queen. s.
