With a musical background provided by The Fabu- lous Dorseys Dolores Olson was proclaimed 1955 Gazette Girl at the annual pre-holiday dance held this year at Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook. Dee, a freshman from Teaneck, was presented with a bouquet of American Beauty Roses and gifts from the sponsors of contest entries by Tom Whitty, managing editor ofthe Gazette, and Carol Hyde, 1954 Gazette Girl. Sponsored by Eta Delta and elected by the student body and faculty from four finalists, Dee is a vivacious, blonde beauty, active in the band, SCA and a participant in the freshman show. The finalists for the 1955 Gazette Girl Contest were se- lected by a panel consisting of Dean Donald Heines, Public Relations Director George Fenwick, Dr. Donald McKee and Mr. Fred Wilson of the Varsity Press. Their judgment was based onthe contestants' beauty, personality, and extra- curricular activity. The Gazette Girl Contest was originated in 1950 and since that time has proved to be very popular with both students and faculty. All freshman and sophomore girls are eligible to compete and may be sponsored by any campus organization or an individual. Carol Hyde, Gazette Girl, 1954, presents a bouquet of American Beauty roses to her successor, Dee Olson, as Tom Whitty, representing the Ga- zette, makes the announcement. 175 'gg XM 'si K DOLORES OLSON Gazette Girl, 1955 GIRL ,U may :gc 31.1-w fa, wg, -
