S if 3 1973-74 Varsity Basketball Team The 1973-74 Ram Varsity Basketball squad, although young and with mostly inexperienced play- ers, was one that Upper fans could be proud of. The squad was led by All-Ohio candidate, Capt. Steve Long who was the only returning starter from the powerful sectional championship squad of a year ago. Steve led' the team, as well as the N.O.L., in scoring. Steve Romich, the only other returning let- terman from the previous season, capably preformed as the teams' floor leader. Two other seniors, Brad Thomas and Todd Stief contributed heavily to the teams' success. Five juniors played a major roll during the 73-74 season: Randy Beidelschies, joel Kin, Jeff Garber, Marv McDaniel, and Tom Pagnard. Steve Micheli, a 6'3 sophomore, had the distinc- tion of being the team's tallest player. Jim Reile was a valuable asset to this year's team as a capable replace- ment for point-guard Romich. jeff McClain and Eric Lucas also made valuable contributions.
