After leaving there, we Jw . . I . . . ,rlre Sebenoler and Nancy Pferfer, aided by their able 's assistants, Phyllis Miller and Barbara Maxwell. Having admired their displays, we passed on down the boulevard where our attention was attracted by the bright sign over the B 8: K Paint and Body Shop, owned by Bill Bickham and Marion Karg. They were being aided by their mechanical-minded helpers, Dave Gillen, Bob Vent, and Ed Gillen. Moving on, we noticed the local high school and decided to stop. The principal, David Gibson, welcomed us and introduced us to the faculty: Nancy Eippert, Ruth Kiehl, Nancy Veith, and coaches Dennis Gerber and David McClain. As we strolled through the school yard, we saw Wilda Swartz, Janet Bennett, Debbie Riley, and Gladys Moses bringing their children to school. In the distance we saw the low lines of the Atomic Research Laboratory, where Donald Stephan and Larry Newman, the celebrated scientists, were constructing a satellite which they hoped to place in the sky over Never-Never Land as added protection against invaders. Next we ins-pected the island's defenses. VVe were especially interested in the Naval Department where Captain Roger CBonesD Swartz showed us their latest ship, the jolly Roger, which was con- structed under the direction of Jerry Gierhart. Ensign Melford Swihart hopes to sail this tub around the planet. VVhile aboard, we met the ship's doctor, Tom Roszman, and his nurses, Barbara Paulin, Sally Koehler, Shirley Clark, and Clara Riedlinger. VVe were shown through the town's library where the librarians, Shirley McClain and Nancy Scheidegger, presented us with the island's best-selling books, Fairies Unrestricted, by Barbara Deg- ler, and 'The Fairy Olympicsf' by Roger Boyle. From the library we went for a little relaxation to the drag strip outside of town. There we saw David Gottfried, Jim Pfeifer, Bob Little, and Richard Hudson testing their latest jet-propelled Hup- mobile. Our time was drawing short as we were taken to Pat Siegel's Cafe-on-the-beach. Here we were served a delicious snack by Sally VValters and Rose Ann VValterho1.1se. Thus our tour of the fabulous island of our dreams, Never-Never Land, ended. On the way to our ship we stopped at Burt Kellyis Produce Farm, where we replenished our sup- plies for -the return trip to earth. If you ever by chance come upon this secluded island, drop in. The Class of '56i' will be honored to have you as a guest, and will guarantee that you have a marvelous time. JERRY L. ROSZIWAN, President International Fairy Finders, Inc. An entire southwestern town is put into an uproar by thc three old ladies. Her friends would be content to return home, but not Tish. Once she gets an idea she carries it out, whether it be fighting with the local sheriff, riding horseback, or patching up a love affair. The whole town becomes disturbed when a bandit is at large. No one knows who he is, or what to do about him except, of course, dear Tish. It is of no consequence that she and her companions nearly get themselves killed. These were the familiar words heard at every football game to announce that it was time for the Upper Sandusky High School Marching Band to do its share in the half- time performances. Not only did the band have entertaining shows on the field, but it also showed a lot of school spirit in supporting the team. Our new director, Mr. August Yoder, did excellent work in taking over the band, and spent many hours planning formations, writing music, and practicing. This year's eighteen senior members will always have pleasant memories of their parts in the football games, parades and ceremonies, which helped so greatly to make their last year a happy one. MAJORETTES From the left: Elaine Book Deborah Rile N Our very capable and attractive junior majorettes for this year were Elaine Book, Marilyn Kunert, and Barbara Nlyers. Seniors Nancy Pfeifer and Debbie Riley, both majorettes for four years, added greatly to the performances of the band and will certainly be missed next year. , ' y, ancy Pfeifcr, hilarilyn Kunert, Barbara Myers. D R U M M A j o R jerry has been a drum major during his sophomore, jun- ior and senior years, and l . cl band. With the ms one a fine job of leading the assistance of the five majorettes, he has per- formed many interesting maneuvers during the half-time shows which have helped to make our band an outstanding feature. Drum major, jerry Roszman, will also be leaving the band this year. 59 soUND EQUIPMENT These boys are responsible for setting up the public address system whenever needed. When Upper opened its football season this year, most of the fans admitted that the Bams had a good team, but they had serious doubts about their beating the always tough Shelby and Bellevue squads. Coach Leo Strang's team made the cynics leat their words by defeating both Bellevue and Shelby by decisive margins. Upper went on to have one of the most fabulously successful seasons in Ram history. They went undefeated, winning all nine of their scheduled games while scoring 329 points to their opponents' 89. They were ranked ninti in the state poll-the highest rating an Upper team has ever achieved. Their success can be attributed to the spirit which they showed throughout the season, and to the excellent cooperation and hnselfish team play they displayed. It will be a long time before the fighting Rams of SS will be forgotten. 62 l , F I COACHES A great deal of the credit for Upperis highly success- ful football season can be attributed to its excellent coaching staff, composed of coaches L. V. Ebenhack, Leo Strang, Donald Drebus, and Fenton Wolfe. I w l VARSITY FOOTBALL SCORES Upper 58 ....,,,,,.............,.................,. While they were not always on the long end of the score, they played at all times in such a manner that their school could be proud of them. The voices of the three seniors, Mary Smith, Phyllis Miller, and Christine Carroll, will be greatly missed by the group. The cheerleaders helped organize a Pep Club for the more enthusiastic high school boosters. We congratulate these girls for a job well done. RESERVE CHEERLEADERS These enthusiastic girls cheered the reserve basketball team in victory and in defeat. In their role as reserve cheerleaders, they have gained experience in leading organized yells, exemplifying sports- manship at its best. We wish future success to you and your teams.
