BASKETBALL Coached for the iirst time by Mr. Nor- ton, the Panthers turned in a solid 1961-2 basketball season. The team consisted of seven seniors and five juniors, a com- bination that seemed to click as the Pan- thers pranced through a seven game win- ning streak to stand 4-0 in section play. The Panthers' march was interrupted only by a loss to Etna at the Holliday Tournament. Although the Panthers were never able to regain their former mo- mentum, the team gained revenge by drubbing Etna twice in the remaining play. In the following games, St. Clair lost important contests to Avonworth and Bellevue. Three other defeats left us with a third place in the Ohio Valley Conference and spelled an end to our title hopes. Frank Vanzin turned in 243 points to become the Upper St. Clair high score man, while Bill Zondoralcs 230 points put him in second place.
