The large crowd at Alumni Field went wild as Quakertown forged ahead in the second quarter and led by the score of 7-U. The highlight of the game was a forty-yard pass from Fetterrnan to Smith out of the double wing formation making the final score 7-7. Returning to the Upper Perk reservation we conquered the first of our Reading area foes by a score of 24-7. After a difficult first quarter the lndians began to move sending Bobby Smith and Delton Fritz around the ends with Brunner breaking the line for extra yardage. The coaches had all the players in this game and they showed possibilities of becoming fine ones in later years. The next game played on October 3 was a battle with Spring City. This game opened in an odd manner when Spring City carrie up with ashort kick which their coach thought would confuse our boys. lnstead it backfired and through excellent teamwork the lndians scalped Spring City 32-U. Following the Spring City tilt we traveled to Muhlenberg Township where we played the most difficult game of the season. After a nip-andetuck first half, Upper Perk managed to scrape l3 points together to win l3f7. Our fifth game of the season was played at Albright Stadium the evening of October 24, A weak Governor Mifflin team fought a losing battle. A s ore early in the first quarter put the lndians out in front by 6-O. lt was still anybodys ball game until Delton Fritz intercepted a pass and carried the pigskin all the way for a touchdown. Final score was 12-U. X th t 1 W mfg va ,-'elf' ff dsl ROTQ , E 535 fi? , zap. 21311 ' If 534 ff.i 5Y1'Y2iaS12-QN V fin HY l,GLlAE, 2,2222 ff' iiii1'1Ame'f L12 :W br.
