A. Q is.'ff'..fnr CLASS HISTORY In September 194-8, our class assembled in Mr. Evans' room to begin our four years of high school. By the end of the year four of our number had left us. September 1949 found twenty-seven of us ready to continue our education in the tenth grade. At this time we were happy to add Gene Fasnacht to our class. We elected Carl Wolgemuth, presidentg Lloyd Greiner, vice-presidentg Marlene Spence, secretaryg and Charles Carson, treasurer. In the spring we all enjoyed a skating party. September 1950 found twenty-five students on the threshold of their junior year. We chose Lloyd Greiner to head the class with Patsy Hawthorne as vice-president, Marlene Spence as secretary, and Glenn Weaver as treasurer. We selected our class rings, jackets, sweaters, and pennants, and received them in time for Christmas. In March we presented our highly successful play, Quit Your Kiddingf, under the direction of Mrs. Lilley. Later in the semester we held our Junior Prom. In September 1951 twenty of us met in Mrs. Herbert's room to start our last year in high school. We again elected Lloyd Greiner, presidentg Patsy Hawthorne, vice-presidentg Marlene Spence, secretaryg and Glenn Weaver, treasurer. In November we presented our senior play, Thank Your Lucky Stars, directed by Mrs. Landis. April 8, 9, and 10 found us enjoying an educational trip to Washington, D. C. Our baccalaureate services were held on May 18, and commencement exercises on May 28. Thus ended the memorabyler school days of the class of ,52. f . .V . . As I entered my car, I turned on the radio and heard a commentator announcing the amazing success of a girls' base- ball team, managed by player-manager, Patsy Hawthorne. While driving down the highway a little later, I saw an accident ahead. It was between two trucks, one owned and driven by Melvin Buffenmyer, the other by Ronald Groff. An ambulance arrived on the scene, and two capable nurses, Maribelle McGinnis and Florence Supplee, began to give first aid. Just then a limousine stopped and the head chemical engineer of Armstrong Cork Co., Carl Wolgemuth. jumped out of the car on one side and a certified public accountant, Lloyd Greiner, on the other. A nearby housewife, Doris Hoober, appeared a little later. As the scene was beginning to clear, a truck loaded with chickens stopped and I saw that the driver was the owner of the Weaver Chicken Business, Glenn Weaver. While we were talk- ing, a helicopter hovering overhead, landed and its pilot, Donald Steller, approached to see what happened. Continuing with my daily business in one of the city's leading firms, I met the owners' two privipte secretaries, Janet Fasnacht and Grace Weaver. Later upon entering a doctor's office, I was received by his receptionist, Fay Hart. That afternoon to 'find the room of a sick friend, in a nearby hospital I consulted the medical record librarian, Erla Hoover, and when I found him, I learned that his private nurse was Allegra Hess, R.N. ' That evening while glancing over the headlines in the newspaper, I noticed that Teresa Myer, an elementary school teacher, was making startling reforms in the city elementary schools. I saw that it was Barbara Broomall, a newsreporter, who had written a vivid account of the accident I had witnessed. That night as I lay in bed, I realized that in one day, I had met most of the class of '52.
