R ohert Evans Treasurer --- --- Mary Ellen Harsh C O L O R S Cherry Red and Silver Gray F L 0 W E R Red -Rose M 0 T T O In Uarselves Ou-r Future Lies If 13 1 ass History ln September, 1944, our class began to make its way through four years of high school. During that first year we were too young and too busy to participate in many activities. In the autumn of 1945 we started our second year of high school by electing class officers. Mary Ellen Harsh was president, Barbara Ranck was vice president, and Lewis Hillard was secretary-treasurer. That year we found that our number was greatly reduced. The most important of our activities were several biology field trips to the Welsli Mountains and Pequea. ln September, 1946, we found ourselves in the junior class. We chose Lewis Hillard to head the class with Barbara Ranck as vice president and Bernard Lynch as secretary-treasurer. We found our ranks increased again by a large number of pupils from West Earl Township. We selected our class rings and pins and received them in February. Another highlight of the year was our trip to the Battle- iield of Gettysburg and the State Capitolat Harrisburg. On March 29 we presented our successful Junior play The Old School Spirit . Then on May 12, we entertained the class of ,47 at a doggie roast at Williamson Park. In September, 1947, nineteen pupils met in Miss Kendig's room as the senior class. We found that Ruth Andes, Catherine Kitch, Char- lotte Leid, Bernard Lynch, Donald Mull, Estella Ressler, and Russel Ressler had left us. We again elected Lewis Hillard president and Barbara Ranck vice president. We also chose Robert Evans to be secretary and Mary Ellen Harsh to be treasurer. Our class was responsible for the organization of the Student Council. We elected Donald Algier, Mary Ellen Harsh, Lewis Hillard, and Robert Horst to serve as our representatives. On November 15 we p1'esented our highly successful play, Papa Says Noln On April 22 and 23 we went on an educational trip to Washington, D. C. Baccalaurate Services were held on May 16, and we received our diplomas at Com- mencement Exercises on May 27. l14J S 6 See 'I-ll'1C1'I1 When speaking of girls, Donald is shy, He'd much rather watch the horses go by. The girls look at Harold, he turns a bright red, His face breaks into a grin as he 'turns his head Early to bed, and early to rise, Puts that sparkle in Ruthie's eyes. When Mary ,lane goes driving in her sister's car, If the trees do not move, she won't go far. ,lerry talks from morn till night, And then she talks by candle light. Bobby is oif to a night of fun, As long as his bucket-of-bolts will run. Our class giggler is Evelyn ,loan Good, She'll laugh at things no one else would. Miss Mary Ellen is calm and serene, Her characteris pleasing, she is never mean. Lloyd's Fleetline Chevy is a 548, He uses it on every date. Lewie's an ace on the basketball floor, I think he'll be President in '64-. c'Horsty is a whiz at formulae and such, They call him a bookwormg he studies so much. A debonair lassie with manner and poise, . Vera's an old hand at handling boys. Evelyn is small and most demure, A pleasant friend, of this we're sure. Lester, who is the poet of our class, In the senior play was a charming lass. Janet studies With all her might From early morning till late at night. Barbara is charming, sweet, and alluring, ' She'll get a husband, that's one thing assuring. Rita is a sober lass, The only red-head of our class. Frankieis a whiz at chemistry and trig, But he just canlt get English under his wig. Songs have been named for Jeannie dear, The titles of which I won't print here.
