NEW POWER TO Q HQ Q Homecoming for l939 was more spectacular than any other. The inauguration of President Vivian T. Smith was the central theme for this festive occasion. Highlights of the day were the Inaugural Ceremony in which Dr. lohn L. Seaton, President of Albion College, delivered the charge to President Smith. At noon Bishop I. Ralph Magee, an Upper lowa alumnus, addressed delegates at the luncheon in South Hall. The bleachers at Dorman Field Were filling rapidly as two-thirty rolled around. The band, the teams, the alumni, the floats and a beautiful autumn sun Was the setting-a Loras defeat and a Peacock victory. The Hon. George A. Wilson, Governor of Iowa, was guest speaker at the Inaugural din- ner in the evening, thus bringing to a close a day not soon to be forgotten in Upper loWa's History.
