COUNC L PE KS SENIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL The Upper Dublin Senior High Student Council is the students' representative government. Its members are students from each homeroom. Two people are selected by their classmates as representatives for the council. These students must have a C average to remain a member of the Student Council. Elections for officers are held in the spring. The students who wish to run for office must fill a petition with required signatures. Then, the candi- dates form parties which campaign for a week before elections. The climax of campaigning is the election in which all Senior High students vote for their choices. The officers that are elected are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Captain of the Hall Monitors. This year the officers elected were: Arthur Fad, Presidentg Mary Lea Minehart, Vice Presidentg Barbara Weikel, Secretaryg Vincent Curll, Treasurerg and Bill Everitt, Captain of the Hall Moni- tors. Mr. Duelfer is the adviser for the council this year. Although the Student Council is not as powerful as we wish it might be, it is responsible for many of the extracurricular activities that are carried on at school. The Student Council runs the school store at which school supplies and food may be purchased. The can- F5931 ff X f 1 E Qs teens after the basketball game are also a Student Council project. The Student Council also tries to improve the conditions in school and to interest the students in school activities and programs. School spirit is often a project that needs improve- ment. This year Studerrt Council sold pins and spon- sored a very successful school spirit week. A project this year is the formation of a Student Court. Thus the Members of the court will take the responsibility of punishing other students. Although the Smdent Council is sometimes an un- recognized organization, it does help to promote a democratic school government. JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL y Our junior High Student Council from year to year has performed many valuable services that have helped to make Upper Dublin the wonderful school that it is. It is designed to give its members more responsibility and to assist them in solving their own problems as well as those of the entire junior High. This year their officers were Kay Derau, Presidentg William Weikel, Vice Presidentg Melvin Anderson, Treasurerg and Carrol Neiman, Secretary.
