M- -.,,.g,a..s.,, -W ,- I t.i? This year the Cardinals decided that the only way they could fly was up, due to last season's disastrous results. During the middle of August the birds began to preen their feathers for a flight through the season. They resolved to win and win they did by ending the season with fifty-fifty, quite an improvement. The coaches felt that the Cardinals really did improve and enjoyed one of their better seasons by finishing fourth in the newly formed Inter-County League. For the first time in its football history, U.D. edged out one of its biggest rivals, Springfield, by one point. Next year the coaches and the team with the aid of 13 returning letter men, look forward to a successful flight encompassing nine wins and no losses, while capturing the League crown -well, we can dream, can't we, since we shall be influential alumni. 1 J. Pagal, G. Allan, C Lindelow, Mr. Jones. The Junior High Football Team, hampered with injuries, succeeded in.winning 3 games, losing 2, and tying 1. They defeated East Norriton once Cand also tied themj, Owen J. Roberts, and George School. They lost twice to Conshohocken. Those who played junior High Football for their last year were captains Rich Fad and Bruce Keyser, Mel Anderson, Ron Krex, john Zollo, Henry Ed- munds, Tony Williams, Carl Dereau, Craig Lewis, and Rick Layer. These boys should be a great asset for Mr. Gilronan's varsity team in the future. Since Mr. Jones and Mr. Taddei have taken over the junior Cardinals fthis was their fourth yearj, Q their teams have done well and played good football. The boys learned cooperation and sportsmanlike con- Coach jones, R. Fad and B. Keyser, Co-Captains, and Coach Taddei. Offensive Team lined up 70 duct as well as how to take punishment. By punishment 3 we refer to the alley of death in which the boys received many bumps and bruises. I
