The students of Upper Darby High School arc vpry con- scious of the Spirit of I960.” that extraordinary enthusiasmII present at football games, basketball games, and othpr sporting events. The indefinable something called “school spirit” had for a long time been dormant in Upper Darby aA has been reawakened. The Pep Club, a recent innovation, is par? tially responsible for the new surge of interest in obr nooP activities, an interest evidenced by greater attendance and li licr spectators. The Carcade,” with its gayly decorated a'j mobiles, makes an event more enjoyable by affording t dent body greater opportunity for participation. In «V o being fun, the “Carcade” testifies to others that' proud of our school and its achievements. The Spirit of 1960” never dies. If our team wins, this spirit is apparent in our rejoicing; if our team loses, it is seen in our determination to do better the next time. In a basket ball game one docs not give up hope until the final buzzer has sounded. So it must be in life, because, in many ways, life is like an athletic contest. Life has high points and low ■nes,'heights of success and depths of failure. In high school we haNV Tcinnecl to accept defeats without being crushcc yie, inddnjuablc spirit that we exhibit while su » e same spirit which will enable knee and hope. 4
