of Culture MUSIC, ART, GYM Pulse the beat, is a phrase that chorus students will never forget. The Upper Darby High Chorus, including A Capella A and B choirs, under the direction of Dr. Clyde Dengler, is noted for its ability to sing difficult pieces in perfect unity. Since Seeing is believing, Upper Darby pupils have come to believe that the art course is a creative study as they see examples of posters and murals painted by art students under the guidance of Miss Elizabeth Kings- ley. Because modern educators consider bodily development an essential part of education, UD's gymnasium is equipped with modern apparatus used by every Upper Darby student. Boys and girls not only have gym classes but they also take part in intramural and interscholastic sports. MONKEY HANG on parallel ban is demonstrated by Carol Umsfead as Judy Motes spots. DEMONSTRATIONS IN proper singing are given to Marie light, Lorretta Montgomery, and Karen Wiley by Dr. Dengler. 23

Characterized by SECRETARIES Answering telephones, taking dictation, keep- ing records on all students, typing and mim- eographing midyear examinations— these jobs face the school's secretarial staff. Duties begin at eight o'clock in the morning and end at four-thirty in the afternoon. This day consists of meeting students, teachers, and visitors. The secretary must show diplomacy and charm in her dealings with these people, and skill in the handling of her job.
