Joseph Loeper Upper Darby's Industrial Arts students may be found working diligently in their ultra-modern shops. Reorganization of the program hos made possible a wider range of activities and expanded shop facilities. According to R. Paul LeCates. department head, the projects the boys engage in ore done largely on an individual basis, the only exception being where teachers select specific projects at the beginning of the course. Multi-activity shops, designated os A B C D and E. are organized so that certain materials are grouped together. The shops include: mechanical drawing, wood, plastics, and ceramics: graphic arts, printing, photography, and home mechanics: general metal: electrical work; mechanical drawing. A unique feature of the program is the shop centered around the study of home mechan- ics. a valuable asset to any student. Mr. Joseph R. Mays Mr. Arthur W. Packer Mr. Anchor L. Milne The rhythmic click of adding machines, the monotonous whirl of the stencil, the sweet strains of popular melodies, and the rasping ring of on alarm clock are heard. What do these noises signify? A jam session? Moss confusion? No! All are selections from the Com- mercial Symphony, led by Mr. Thomas Milne, department head. Through one of the four available courses, Accounting, Salesman- ship, Stenographic, or General Business, the deportment offers to every commercial student an adequate background for the specific position he wishes to obtain. Commercial students ably assist with the stenographic duties of the school. By typing, stenciling, and distributing the morning sheet stenographic students hove on excellent opportunity to practice what they learn in class. 18 Mr. Loeper teaches an Industrial Arts class.
