In the senior program, the history de- portment offers three elective courses. Economics presents a study of American and World economy, while Problems of Democracy lays great emphasis on current events. Study the past. understand the Early Roman Civilization v - - Mr. George L Bair As citizens of a great and free country, it is our duty to gain on understanding and knowledge of American and World history. With this fact in mind Upper Darby's history department, under the guidance of Mr. Charles Wood, strives to prepare its students for their responsi- bilities os citizens. Required for all academic students. Modern European history is a study of Europe from the beginning of civilization up to and including World War II. Twoes What is the omplitude of the cycloid os it passes through all functional valves from zero to infinity? Although this question might not be heard in Upper Darby's clossrooms. it typifies the amount of knowledge held by our mathe- matics department under the direction of Mr. John Diehl. Realizing how important a good foundation in math is. the deportment offers oil phoses of mathematics to students who wish to take advantage of them. The courses offered include: algebra I and II, plain and solid geometry, trigonometry, and odvonced algebra. Arts and Crofts students take a practical mathematics course designed to fit their special needs. Juniors who do not attain a satisfactory level of proficiency in Standard Tests in Arithmetic carry an additional course in Remedial Mathematics during their senior year. Mr. Robert N.
