Tyson “Who as teacher, principal, and super- intendent has directed their course through many years. “Who thinks and plans for the com- munity and its children. “Who by faith in his school family, gains their loyal support. “Who. through his tireless devotion to the cause of education, may be identified as Mr. Upper Darby himself. PRINCIPAL DR. JAMES E. NANCARROW Dr. James E. Nancarrow stepped into the spotlight of the first ring in 194 as principal of the Upper Darby Senior High School. Since then he has stayed right in the center of things. His presence is always noted at all school functions: he is one of the most loyal rooters for all the teams: and he is especially concerned with iIk general welfare of the students in the school. The spotlight of the second ring shines on Dr. Nancarrow for community service. In 1954 he was presented with tlx Optimists' Award. In the third ring tlx spotlight shines equally as brightly, for Dr. Nancarrow holds many positions on the state and national level. He presides as president of the Pennsylvania Branch of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and is president of the Principals' Department of tlx Pennsyl- vania State Educational Association. In addi lion he represents the Middle States Associa- tion of Colleges and Secondary Schools on the College Entrance Examination Board, and holds membership in the Head Masters' Asso- ciation. Friend and counselor. Dr. Nancarrow gives of his time and energy to the betterment of Upper Darby. 17
