The School Board, responsible for selecting Upper Darby's faculty and providing new buildings and facilities for the ever growing school population, has done a superior job. SINCE his debut in 1943 as principal of the Upper Darby Senior High School, Dr. Jomes E. Nancorrow hos played an important role in making our school one of the best in Delaware County. School affairs have run so smoothly under his direction that few realize the amount of work involved in the efficient administration of such a large organization. The positions to which Dr. Noncarrow has been elected in community organizations show the high esteem in which he is held in the county. The Optimist's Award for 1954 was recognition for his services. On the state and national level. Dr. Nancorrow presides os president of the Pennsylvania Branch of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and president of the Principals' Deportment of the Pennsylvania State Educational Association. In addition to this, he holds membership in the Head Masters Associa- tion and membership on the College Entrance Examination Board representing the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The high ideals with which Dr. Nancorrow has inspired us have not only been characteristic of Purple and Gold tradition but also of those held by other outstanding American high school principals as well. DR. JAMES E. NANCARROW
