We Could Make Believe . . . James M. Barrie's The Admirable Crichton, the Junior’s choice for their class play, offered dramatic roles to twenty-six aspiring actors and actresses. The comedy, illustrating the crumble of high society as the result of a shipwreck, featured a butler who emerged from the background and displayed complete leadership on a South Pacific Island. Eight major characters provided lively scenes from a fashionable English parlor to a deserted island com- plete with palm trees, grass, and rocks. Miss Frieda Reed, coach of the starlets, and Miss Maisie Weil, technical director, worked closely with Richard Schaefer, stage manager, and Cynthia Dicken and Georgene Miller, student directors. Similar to You Can't Ta e It With You. the success of The Admir- able Crichton was the result of class cooperation in acting, scenery construction, and make-up. 30
