Upper Darby offers preparatory training for many occupations and professions. In our Academic Course, students become ac- quainted with history, economics, and other social studies. The Scientific Course pre- sents concentrated study in intermediate and advanced mathematics and in varied science topics. The experimental facilities make biology, chemistry, and physics prac- tical as well as theoretical. Commercial students learn to operate modern business machines and typewriters. They receive instruction in shorthand, Eng- lish, and law. Many of them obtain actual business experience, working in the commer- cial office. Girls taking the Arts and Crafts Course find their work in the home economics de- partment not only interesting but also very valuable in their future life. The boys learn manual skills in the shops, thereby obtaining preparation for many and varied occupa- tions. 16
