The Class of 1953 has made an admirable start at Upper Darby and promises to be an outstanding group in its next two years at U.D. The sophomores began their Senior High School career by breaking the magazine campaign record previously established by the Class of 1952, They were equally successful with their class dance, Court Capers. Sophomores have done outstanding work this year for their school, as well. They were well represented in many varied school activities, particularly dramatics and sports. Much of the credit for the achievement of the Class of '53 belongs to its capable president, Dick Padula. He was ably assisted by VicefPresident John Hartmire, Secretary Marie DeGeorge, and Treas' urer Bob Henn. The sophomores are fortunate in having Julia S. Miller and Paul K. Noel as their advisers. Miss Miller is well known to many of the girls for her work in the Home Economics Department. Mr. Noel is no newcomer to the job of class adviser, as he has guided several classes in the past. With such leaders, Upper Darby can be confident that the Class of '53 will continue to be successful in their next two years on the hill. Successfully piloting the Class of '52 through its second ear on the hill are Secretar Mi UNIOR The Class of 1952 has made a line record during its nrst two years on the hill, despite the fact that it is the smallest class Upper Darby has had in a number of years. Not only have the juniors shown leadership, enthusiasm, and wholeheartedness in everything they have done for their class, but they have also worked untiringly for the school. This is evidenced by the many junior representatives in music, ath- letics, and in scholarship. Last year the juniors broke all previous records in their magazine campaign and climaxed the year with an equally successful class dance. This year they continued their success with the annual junior dance and their class party, the plans for which originated in the class executive committee early in the year. Parke Hess, class president, has capably led the Class of '52 through two years of outstanding achievement. He was assisted this year by vice' president Bob Abbott, secretary Midge Roye, treas' urer Rowland Hutchinson, and historian Joan Parker. Guided by its popular advisers, Herbert S. Herzog and Alice M. Goodman, the Class of 1952 is prepared to assume a place of leadership in Upper Darby High School next year.
