SUPERINTENDENT HE Class of 1944 pays a twofold tribute to John H. Tyson, superintendent of the Upper Darby School systcmrfiirst, for his skillful leader' ship as principal of Upper Darby in our first two years hereg and secondly, for his guidance during our senior year in the capacity of superintendent. Our class is indebted to Mr. Tyson for his tireless efforts to better our school. We all know of his keen interest in our community life and we admire his zealous work. Since the beginning of the war, he has been instru- mental in the organization and the conduct of def fense schools. Mr. Tyson is an ardent Victory Garf dcner. In these and many other ways, he has conf tributed to Upper Darby's war effort and has demon' strated his ability as a community leader. MR. JOHN H. TYSON Mr. Tyson watches the Lower Marion Game

DR. JAMES E. NANCARROW Dr. Nancarrow talks to guests at his reception. PRINCIPAL N HIS first year as principal of the Upper Darby High School, Dr. James E. Nancarrow has been a most able leader. The problems which he faced were many and were complicated by such wartime ex' igencies as the shortageg of man power and material and also the special adjustments which had to be made. His solution of these problems and excellent judgment in the decisions which he gave have made our senior year more enjoyable. Although many of us have not had the opporf tunity of knowing Dr. Nancarrow personally, his everfpresent smile and affable manner and his conf sideration and interest in our plans and progress have been a constant inspiration to all of us. With his long experience as a public school ad' ministrator, we know that Dr. Nancarrow will conf tinue to have, in many years to come, the success and popularity which he enjoyed during this, his Hrst year at Upper Darby.
