ac tive: sc iiool no a hi» JT IS not often we, as students, have the chance to show our gratitude to the Board of Education. They volun teer their services and too often go without our thanks. Their work has been made doubly difficult because Upper Darby has grown so rapidly it has been difficult to acconv modate so many students. This situation has been some what alleviated by the construction of the new Garrcttford School. Truly the community can be proud of our school board—so active and so ready to serve. Fourteen

It is a rare person who has no other interest outside of his regular work. Dr. Sampson is not this rare person. If you want to see his eyes light up, just ask him about his farm. He will talk just as learnedly to you about seed potatoes and fine livestock as he will about educational pro- cedures. IIIK. WILLIAM C. SAMI'SOA For the past seventeen years Dr. William C. Sampson has been superintendent of the Upper Darby School system. He has been a backstage prompter in our rise through the grades. During these years Dr. Sampson has put his time and effort into the betterment of our school life. He has ably conducted the schools in Upper Darby through many years of peace. Now after a year at war he has wisely guided us in our efforts toward victory. We have been his concern for twelve years and owe him our heartiest thanks and appreciation. Sixteen
