EVERYTHL li in FOREWORD On the following pages of this, our 1942 Oak, is a faithful record in words and pic- tures of the outstanding events and activi- ties of the past school year. It is incomplete, for work that has been begun this term, tra- ditions that have been upheld, precedents which have been followed, and activities that have been continued, will not be concluded in this or any other year, but, as an ever moving chain of events, will be recorded in future Oaks. Departing from the custom of recent years, a theme has been followed through- out the pages of this Oak. Few still re- member the Old Oak Tree that once stood beside our school, but its legend has been handed down from class to class, and its significance has not diminished with time. Appropriately, it has been selected as the theme of this 1942 Oak “. .. in remembrance of its strength and beauty, and with the hope that it may act as an ideal in our un- dertakings.”

M R. I) I E H L An Open Letter To: MISS K E R R and We want you both to know that we think you're pretty swell, and that to dedicate this book to you is an inadequate way of showing our appreciation of all you've done for us these three years. However, it's the best we can offer at the moment, but if you'll please add to this a host of grateful hearts that will remember you always with sincere pleasure in the years to come—-maybe then, this dedication will be a symbol that has a lot of meaning after all. The Class of 1942 MR. JOHN DIEHI
