THREE MAJOR COURSES ARE OFFERER 'THREE courses, one in col- m lege preparation, one in business training, and one in general work, are offered to satisfy the different needs of the students. Statistics show that ap- proximately fifty-five per cent of the senior class are gradu- ating in either the academic or scientific groups of the College Preparatory course. Boys are found to be in the majority in the scientific di- vision, while the academic group has a higher percentage of girls. These students look forward to entering college, university, or some higher form of educational institu- tion. Those taking the commer- cial training number thirty per cent. This course branches into four divisions in the junior year, giving an opportunity for specialization in stenography, accounting, salesmanship, and general business. The remaining fifteen per cent are made up of those students who wish to have training which will fit them for employment immediately after graduation. The Gen- eral Course is also divided into separate divisions, the practical and cultural groups. The course gives the student an opportunity to study home economics, and shop work, but also contains a taste of language, literature, science, and mathematics. If you choose to take the College Preparatory Course, it may be that you will take the academic curricu- lum. If you do, one of your re- quired courses will be history. Here, a young lady points to a spot of interest on the map. If you do not choose the aca- demic curriculum in the College Preparatory Course, then you must take the scientific. This will mean that along the way you must struggle valiantly with such head- aches as physics and chemistry. Twenty

for stu»i: ts! yahifi» akilitiks In the General Course the girls are bound to find themselves cast in the role of home-makers. Sewing and cooking are required subjects. Not all the savory odors detected about the building come from the cafeteria. Some emanate from cooking class. The boys in the General Course take life and limb in hand whilst they work in the machine shop. This young man looks quite efficient and collected as he operates the drill press. Many students choose the Com- mercial Course with its varied cur- ricula. Some take stenography and typing; others, retail selling; still others, a general business course.
