THE CLUBS The Algetrorco Club, under the capable direction of Mr Brosius, is composed of a group of mathematically inclined students who assemble for the purpose of receiving enjoyment os they also increase their knowl- edge of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, arithmetic, and calculus. From these five branches of mathematics the club has been cleverly named. The spring banquet cli- maxes the club's activities. Newly formed this year, the Horace Mann Society has been organized to encourage students who wont to make teochinq their vocation to study their chosen profession. Under the interested sponsorship of Miss Ferree, this future teachers' association meets to discuss several pamphlets, pur- chased by club dues, pertaining to the per- sonal development and qualities desired of a good teacher. Restaurant Night, a highlight of the German Club's activities, offers food, fun, and dancing to its members German life and the language itself have been the chief interests of this organization Meeting on Mondays, the club members depict some phase of German life and custom and speak only German. Annually, Santa Claus makes his appearance at a Christmas party and he, too, speaks only German. A Christmas Party wos the play pre- sented at Yuletide to the sophomore and junior assemblies by the members of the Pleiades Club The production wos coached by Thomson Lesher, president of the club These future Barrymores and Bernhordts ore primarily interested in octing in plays and seeing them. This year the club saw sev- eral ploys and enjoyed the spring wienie roast.

Interested in good literature, current plays, and outstanding motion pictures, the girts of Toy-Wistalvan meet monthly to exchange their ideas on these subjects and to study them together Few people realize that the name of the club itself is derived from out- standing literary names—Toy from Bayord Taylor, Wist from Owen Wister, Al from Louisa Mae Alcott, and Van from Henry Van Dyke. The club hos secured several speakers to talk on poetry, the short story, and other phases of literature. — U D — In order to improve their French conver- sation and become better acquainted with France and its people, a large group of French students meet every month under the supervision of Miss Chrisman. The club enjoys ploys, colored slides, and motion pic- tures at regular meetings while the annual bonquet in February combines work and play, since all the members attending must speak French and partake of delicious food served in typical French style. The French Club hos issued, this year, identification cards to all members, which are collected at every meeting in order to check attendance — U D —
