The purpose of the World Affairs Forum is to encourage an interest in politics and develop an understanding and appreciation of international ond domestic problems. At programs open to the entire school, the Forum presents speakers from the leoding political parties and of various nationalities to afford the students first hand knowledge of controversial issues. This year the Forum sponsored a Model Republican Convention as its major project and for the first time invited other schools to participate in its principal octivity. — U D — The Library Club is an organization for those students interested in library work in general and who intend to maior in this field in college Its members assist the librarians and help maintain efficient order during the library's open periods. The high- lights of the club's activities include a doggie roast, a Christmas porty, and o mother ond daughter banquet. This year for the first time, pins with the club in- signia were made available to members. — U D — World Affairs Forum

Presenting THE CLUBS Since its organization in 1926 as the first club m the high school, the Steinmetz Scien- tific Society has not only aided those stu- dents interested in any field of scientific reseorch but also fulfilled its primary pur- pose of serving the school The amplifica- tion system, the slides, and the moving picture machines used during school affairs are all under its direct supervision. In re- cent years this organization has held the position of acting secretary of the Junior Academy of Pennsylvania, an association composed of all high school scientific clubs. — U D — Under the personal direction of the school nurse, the First Aid and Social Service Club is an organization for those girls interested in nursing and who wish to increase their knowledge and gain experience in this field In addition to assisting Mrs. Wolstenholme with her duties in the infirmary, the mem- bers aid the Hi-Y groups with the welfare work at Christmas time and take various field trips to Philadelphia hospitals during the school year. — U D — The Boys' Hi-Y is an organization based on service to the school. Its members not only serve at the Information Desk and have charge of the Lost and Found, but olso play a major port in the Christmas welfare work in conjunction with the Girls' Hi-Y. The club olso provides guides and ushers for many school affairs and sponsors several dinners both for themselves and other groups, the highlight of Hi-Y activities being a father and son banquet. — U D — To serve the school whenever possible is the purpose of the Girls' Hi-Y. With mem- bership bosed on scholarship, character, and service, the Hi-Y girls have charge of the Information Desk, the Lost and Found, and the Christmas welfare work. The club also sponsors athletic dinners honoring girls' sports and an annual mother and daughter banquet During the past few years, the Girls' Hi-Y, in conjunction with the Band Mothers' Association, have formed a Stock- ing Club to raise funds for new band uni- forms and instruments. — u D — Thirty-eight

THE CLUBS The aim of the Archery Club is to hit the bull's eye. The club is composed of fifty members, oil girls, under the leader- ship of Miss Garen ond Miss Kerr. One business meeting is held a month while there are two shootings a week The club offers social activity as well as sport. The girls usually have a Christmas porty and a picnic in the spring. — U D — Almost any afternoon one can find en- thusiastic fencers combating in the upstairs corridors. The Fencing Club is advised by Mr Hall There are about twenty mem- bers, both boys and girls. Out of five matches this year the boys' team won three and lost two The girls broke even by winning one game and losing one. — U D — This year the Tee-Ball Club was added to Upper Darby's long list of extra-curricular activities. It is composed of thirty-five peppy girl golfers, who consider themselves very fortunate to have Mr Wallace os their sponsor. A business meeting is held every other week, but the oirls practice every week. The club hos been a great success this year, and we hope it will continue to be successful. — U D — Under the able leadership of Miss Nan Scott the Girls' Bowling Club hos success- fully completed its second year of activity. The club was forced to turn away several enthusiastic applicants this year because of the limited membership of fifty. The girls bowl once o week ot the Lonsdowne Bowling Alleys. The club is divided into two groups, since it is impossible for them to all bowl at the same time. The highest score made this year wos 146. — U D —
