So omore ENTERING the senior high school with fear in their hearts and lumps in their throots, the class of 1942 joined the rest of us who are so proud to call Upper Darby our Alma Mater. Feeling no different from any other sophomore dosses, they were at first overwhelmed by the strange- ness of the building, by the numerous Session clubs and activities, and most of all by the attitude of the sophisticated seniors, who made them feel very small and insig- nificant. Strangely enough, however, the sophs found themselves entering into the swing of things and taking active part in our activities. Now their main ambition in life is to be called juniors.

His most ardent desire is that his grades and choice of subjects will permit him to enter the institution of his dreams without having to pass through the ordeal of College Board Exam- inations. To this end, he gees long icurneys with Cicero and Virgil, tracks down obscure information from Shakesf eare, probes into the interior of o Cray fish and worm, discovers that 2x equals ab, proves that one molecule of hydrogen contains two atoms, and studies the making of our Constitution and government. Many of the boys and girls taking this course have hopes of being cur future doctors, lawyers, ministers, architects, nurses, librarians, and teachers More power to them in attaining their goal! After completing this course, a student has a fundamental cultural knowledge and is prepared to enter into any field of higher education
