FOREWORD J“ HE Oak this year is published and presented with a three-fold purpose in mind. First, we hope to give to the members of the class of 1935 a lasting and accurate record of its members and activities. Second, we have tried to give to the members of the Upper Darby High School a review of the events and groups that have con- trived to make this a banner year in our history. Third, the Oak hopes to present a publication which in itself is an excuse for existing, a work of which Upper Darby can be justly proud. If these purposes are accomplished within these pages, then the Oak has reached its goal for 1935.

CHELSEY G. REMLEY gECAUSE of his genuine interest ond his efficiency in managing our affairs, Mr. Remley has proved himself an able adviser of the Class of 1935. He has worked tire- lessly with our class officers and the executive committee in deciding many problems which we had to meet. Besides appointing committees for our class functions, he has worked faithfully with their members. Week after week he has planned assembly programs and has succeeded in having many varied entertainments. Mr. Remley has always been ready to help us choose our school subjects and to arrange our rosters. We have found that his advice is well worth following. His general good humor has shown itself in everything that he has done, and perseverance has ever characterized his efforts. DEDICATED TO ALICE M. GOODMAN w ITH earnestness, tirelessness, ond understanding. Miss Goodman has worked with us on all of our class projects. It has been due to her originality and clever ideas that our social functions have attained so much publicity and popu- larity. Faced with such difficult problems as the Washington trip, the executive committee found Miss Goodman an in- valuable aid. Because of her sense of humor and ready wit, she has made the harder work in school life a real pleasure for those who have worked with her. Yet with all these duties Miss Goodman has always been willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who was in trouble. In appreciation of their efforts in working for the good of our class, we dedicate this issue of The Oak to our class advisers. Miss Goodman and Mr. Remley.
