The ability to remember the good and forget the unpleasant is certainly not the least of Godls gifts to men. That we are to exercise this ability as Christians is clear from the following counsel from Ellen White: Have there not been some bright spots in your ex- perience?. . . When you look back into the chapters ofyour life experience do you not End some pleasant pages? . . . It is not wise to gather together all the unpleasant recollections of a past life,-its iniquities and disappointmentsfto talk over them and mourn over them until we are overwhelmed with dis- couragement. . . Thank God for the bright pictures which He has presented to us. This book is an excellent Way to remember those bright pictures-the songs and prayers, the fun and laughter, the wonder of discovery which we have shared. It is my sincere hope that as we look through these pages there will often come into your heart and mine a great longing to see these dear faces again in that Bland of pure delight Where pleasures banish painfl -J.
