PROPH ECY Twenty years have passed since I was a senior at Upchurch. Since that time I have traveled extensively. Some of my trips brought me in contact with many classmates, and I have gained much knowledge about them. Leroy Horsley has established a business school where many boys and girls are taking Typing, Shorthand, and Bookkeeping. Christopher Evans, Benjamin Alston, and Ernest McLaughlin are members of the Brooklyn Dodgers Baseball Team. James Ray and James McRae are owners of the Ray--McRae Restaurants in Raeford, Aberdeen, and Southem Pines. Victoria McPhatter operates an art studio. Many of her paintings are in the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. John Thomas and Lewis Melvin are successful farmers. They own large plantations where all modern equipment is at work. Ophelia Alford, Charlee McDonald, Nellie Melvin, and Catherine McMillan are leading educators in various places of their native state. Willie McNeill is now training voices in his famous studio. Gladys McPhatter, now married, operates a group of Beauty Salons. Hair styling is her specialty. Working with her are Evelyn Monroe, 'Eloise Morrison, and Ollie Kearns. Bertha McRae and George Morrison are famous dancers. They have made many appearances in Europe and South America. Ruth McAllister is now an outstanding concert singer. She was recently accepted as a member of a New York opera. Donella Quick is also a singing star on Broadway. Many outstanding housewives and civic leaders are in Raeford. Among them are Sallie McNeill and Strata Covington. At last Raeford has a School of Embalming. The operators are Samuel McRae - manager, his wife, Channie Smith is secretary. Other members of the staff are Sylvester Covington, William and James Pope, Lawrence Murchison and Smith Allmond. Melvin McLean operates a fleet of taxis in Red Springs. With him are Theodore Hollingsworth - Co-Owner, Wilbert Harris - business manager, and J. W. Harris. The charming office girl is the former Gladys Morrison. Farm Demonstrator Richard McLaughlin has a lovely home and family on his prosperous farm near Bowmore. The Daniels and Carpenter Dress Shop is a new addition to the business section on U street in Washington, D.C.
