A centenarian is an old person. A centennial is a great institutional event. Pacilies centennial celebrates, an idea worthy of perpetuationg a Christian institution of higher teaming in a new and rather wild adventurous land of gold. That idea lixed the imagin- ation olf men and lqindled the enthusiasm ol a State. The charter came and the idea was formulated into an institution. Fifteen presidents, three acting presidents and two chancellors have led hundreds of trus- tees and Faculty memhers and thousands ol students to malse the chartered college flesh and hlood. The impact of this century has reached all continents and has left permanent influences for good, particularly on and in the Golden State. NViih the original Christian purpose still clear. Pacilic faces its second hundred years virile, determined, yet humhleg thanlqtul to God for the past, and depending on him for the future. A Golden Century Crowns Pacilicn hecause for one hundred years this College has driven its roots deep into the very colorful and signilicant history of California. Our life and the life of the State runs parallel through some ot the most climatic events in the his- tory ol: our country. The College always met these changes with faith, hope and courage. Because of this, it has emerged strong and free. At this time we naturally loola to the future- There is no question hut that our part will he a heacon light to guide us on the greater triumph in the future. Our one hundred year history, our high academic standing. our location in a dynamic geographical area all add up to help assure this.
