N if EDWARD SIMONSEN Genial Simie is the student body president, has been on the execu- tive committee for two years, was chairman of the 1936 Mardi Gras, sophomore class presi- dent, has a frosh basket- ball numeral and has participated in inter-class sports all four years. He is a member of Rho Lambda Phi, the orches- tra, the band and Phi Mu Alpha. 517+ I. it . lu., x 'ear g If Appointed president of the College of The Pacific with the support of the Edward Bannister Foundation, Dr. Tully Cleon Knoles has served in that capacity since l9l9. ll Besides his executive work, Presi- dent Knoles presents World Today, required class for a lecture course de- voted to current international problems and serving a dual purpose, broadcast over a radio hookup at the same time it is presented before the class in attend- ance in the auditorium. He presents scores of radio broadcasts and hundreds of lectures before groups large and small. If As a graduate of the University of Southern California, Dr. Knoles was awarded his A. Five years later he suc- cessfully completed the requirements for the master of arts degree and in l9l9 he obtained the degree of doctor of divinity, following that by doctor of laws in 1927. ll A familiar equestrian Hgure along the levee bordering the college on the north, Dr. Knoles has a passion for poetry offering him relaxation in idle moments.
