The Choice For Me Drug Free Alpha Phi Sorority and The Alcohol and Other Drug Education Program spon- sored a Red Ribbon campaign in con- junction with national Red Ribbon Week Oct. 22-28. The slogan for the week was, The Choice for Me, Drug Free. Red Ribbon week was a national effort to inform people of the dangers of drugs and to prom ote a drug-free, healthy lifestyle. This commltement was made by the wearing of a red ribbon during the week or any day that a person chose to go completely drug free. There was no use of any illegal drug and no abuse of a legal drug allowed during this week. This included caffene, beer, cigarettes, and any other drug that people may have used in daily life. During the week many programs were sponsored to help people realize if they have an ad- diction or if they just need a little more information. Ribbons were handed out by sorority members all week in Cob- blestone Court and this is where the contracts were signed. Pamphletes were also available for students. The week turned out to be a tremendous success and was a benefit to many stu- dents. Organizations

I Money Matters for SSA Allocations The Stout Student Association had a total of $208,770 available for alloca- tion, of which $204,616 was recom- mended for allocations to organiza- tions by the Financial Affairs Commit- tee. The $4,154 difference would go into cooperative programming. When the budgets go to the entire Senate, three options are possible; accept the budget as a whole, throw out the re- quest and rewrite it, or make an amend- ment to committees recomendations. Each club that wanted funding sub- mitted a request form detailing every program they wanted to complete and a summary of all fiscal programming for the fiscal year. The groups were then required to answer several questions to allow the Financial Affairs Committee to make an intelligent decision on budget allocations, including the question of how their program would address the system wide program of Design for Di- versity. An interview was then set up with the committee, which allowed time for the group to explain the budget and programming they want to accomplish next year. The money that is allocated to the various groups on campus comes from the student activity fee portion of segregated fees, or $1.50 per credit per student. sun nw rtphtn Organizations - 23
