Array Of Visions UW-Stout has always been known for its areas of specialization and 1985-86 proved to be no different. Along with the areas of specialization comes the rash stereotypes we associate with students in their respective majors. Probably the most noticeable is our Fashion Merchandise majors, some- times affectionately called, merchies. According to the stereo- type, fashion merchandising majors are the students that are never dress- ed in anything less than the latest fashions. Then there are the Psycholo- gy majors, no matter where they are, they have to be analyzing the minds of others. What about Art majors? If you ' re an Art major, you are sure to hang out on the third floor of Applied Arts, you are creatively dressed. And you must own a beret. Then there ' s the black pants and white shirt epidemic. This has got to be the Hotel and Restaurant Major. And if you are looking for a good place to go for dinner, ask a Hotel fit Restaurant major, they are sure to know. If you ' ve got a worn jean jacket and hiking boots, the stereotype says — Industrial Technology. Being an In- dustrial Technology major also means you like to spend your nights in the drafting lab and you must be mechanically inclined. And how about those students with the modem day kindergarten art covering their walls — Early Childhood majors. Although these are all gross generalizations and rash stereotypes, you ' ve probably heard at least a couple of them over the year. But Stout does have individu- ality, people with a variety of reasons for being here. This provided Stout with a mesh of individual views and an array of visions. Opening 17
