This past year was the year of allied student-faculty dissent. Organizations and peaceful demonstrations championed a no- hours for women program, an open speaker policy, and a halt to steady student fee increases. Demands were compromised or sent into committees for more compromises. UThs adminis- tration said yes hexperimentallyx hnoj hmaybe so; but never hcertainlyf And the students have yet to stop asking. Whether good, bad, or indifferent, student attitudes certainly were no longer apathetic on subjects ranging from the war in Viet Nam to minority groups in America. Social activities also became a matter of caring. Dormitories and even religious organizations successfully competed with Greeks in campus- wide events such as Homecoming, All-Sing, and Carnicus. The Knoxville campus itself has about doubled in geographic and student size in the past four years and is still growing strong. .me mm w h '4 h 3O
