The Issue at Hand In this yearls VOLUNTEER, welve tried to catch the grins in going to university. We like to think that its just as important to learn to laugh lproviding you don,t major in i0 as it is to learn to work logarithms. dee kept this in mind in attempting to do an annual strictly for and about the students. Naturally, this ruled out a weighty, serious theme and left us with the idea of taking the Esky outlook toward collegiate life, and picturing it as ESQUIRE would. And, with permission, we adapted the ESQUIRE format to our use, borrowed a few ideas, and matricu- lated Esky at Tennessee. Then we began the job of assembling the hundreds of pictures and writing all new copy that would be in keeping with our intention of not taking ourselves too seriously. Anyway, itls all in fun and we hope youill get the spirit and enjoy the 1948 VOLUNTEER. E.S.A. ED 8. ALBERS, JR.
