DR. ALEXANDER GUERRY O God our Father, the light of the faithful, the strength of those who labor, and the repose of those who depart this life in faith, we remember before thee in this hour thy servant, our former President, who labored among us, who guided us, and who inspired our thoughts and efforts in behalf of Christian education. We bless thee for his kindly human spirit, for his keen sense of justice, for his discerning sense of value, for the outreach of his vision, for his abiding faith in the reality of the spiritual, and for the courage and fearlessness which characterized his leadership in our college and in our community. VVe rejoice today that thou didst give him to us for a few years to lead our institution through a serious crisis to greater opportunities for service. Thanks be to thee for the hallowed influence of his personality on teachers, stu- dents, and people of the community, and for our abiding heritage in the fruits of his labors. Through thy providence thou didst call him to a Wider sphere of service, and we rejoice that through thy grace thou didst lead him to notable achievement in his last field of labor. Guide and uphold our sister institution, so suddenly and sorely bereft of his leadership, and that the tasks he undertook in her behalf may be carried on to full fruition, Father of mercies, comfort and sustain with thy presence those most dear to him, and especially her who has been the comrade of his heart and his labors through the years. -GOD FREY TIETZE 17
