Ted Hall lays up another two points in the upset win over Creighton in the St. Paul Christmas Tournament. Lou Shears matches his height against the awe- inspiring G.A. sky-scrapers to tip in two points in the upset of the Gusties. In the annual trip, the Tommies split, losing the opener to Wartburg and drubbing Iowa Teachers in the second game. The St. Paul Invitational Tournament was the scene of the Toms next great conquest. After beating- Iowa Teachers, they upset Creighton University in an over- time thriller, only to lose to Gustavus in the finals. Next the Toms moved into their conference schedule in earnest, but lost their next games to Hamline and St. Mary's. Then Ted Hall poured in 32 points against Macalester as the Toms won. But the glory was short- Iived when they fell before the Golden Gusties from St. Peter. At this time John Hislop returned to the lineup, and things started to look up. The Toms romped over Augs- burg and Concordia, but were edged by St. Olaf and St. John's. They got back on the victory trail when they dumped mighty Hamline and Duluth, but then, in the upset of the season, were beaten by Augsburg. Hislop and company now started to roll. They beat St. Mary's, Macalester, Gustavus, and Concordia to end the season with I8 wins and 9 losses. Next season Paul Sokol and the Tommy basketball fans will miss Jim Seidel, Jack Swift, Len Horyza, and Ray Schneider, in addition to the all conference guards, John Hislop and Bob Lee.
