We shall always remember his co- operative spirit and never-failing sense of humor, for this is the way he has always been since we have known him. 5 ' ALMA MATER Hail to thee, our Alma Mater, Raise thy banners high; Mighty Asheville-Biltmore College Shall not ever die ! Chorus: Honor, glory, praise we bring thee, Hallowed halls so dear; Greater still shall rise thy virtues With each passing year! Hear thy sons, Oh Alma Mater, Give their hearts in song, Unto thee, dear Asheville-Biltmore, Mater fair and strong. 59MH8 â– RH -H ■■•■■, â– m u Ensmrnsssm â– 1 Jsnmiii-ciiiMoiii coiiici Asheville, North Carolina President ' s Llesi3-e Scenes from the beautiful campus of the College in the Sky and a chronicle of the campus activities for the 1955-56 year are depicted in a most at- tractive manner in this issue of the Sumn.it. In the years ahead, this pictorial record of some of the most enjoyable phases of your college life  ill undoubtedly recall happj if not wholly carefree days spent on the campus on Sunset Mountain. The feeling of nostalgia thus induced  ill tend, we hope, to strengthen the bonds of loyalty between you and the College and give you rer.ev.ed interest in your Alas Mater. Throurb your devotion and support, nsnevilie-Biltmore College will attain increasingly greater stature In the educational world. Our community college has expanded its services far beyond tne work of the regular day students. In addition to an extensive variety of courses of- fered adults to satisfy individual needs, special attention is given to the needs of student nurses from the Memorial Mission Hospital School of Nursing, personnel of local and federal governmental agencies, business and industrial firms, and community agencies, y.ith the growing strength ana increasing scope of service of the College has come wider recognition. In North Carolina, the community college is coming into its own. local and state educational authorities and prominent laymen are extolling the virtues of this type of institution of higher learning and are pointing to the important role it will play in solving our educational problems in the critical years ahead. This year, for the first time, our State Legislature took note of the importance of the four existing community colleges in North Carolina and provided modest grants-in-aid for their support. Thus, it appears that the community college can look forward with confidence to a great new era in its history. The Summit is keeping pace with the development of the College. It con- tinues to grow in excellence and is attaining increasingly greater re- cognition. This year is no exception. My sincere congratulations to the editor, her staff, and the faculty advisor whose skill, planning and many hours of hard work have resulted in the production of this ex- cellent issue of the annual. My best wishes to all of you who leave our campus for new fields of activities. Glenn L. Bushey President dh Mr â– â– 09 SK?tJBiwFrwfn r Jiif«n, t Administration PRESIDENT Dr. Glenn L. Bushey B. S. Leading the attack of the Castle College Bulldogs were Bobby May hew, an all-district performer from Kentucky, who specialized in playmaking and tough defensive assign- ments. Used mostly at guard, Bobby teamed up with Gene Brown, a speed merchant. Up front, Gene ' s high school pal, Ronnie Dalton, ripped the cords. Abetting the Bulldog cause up front was Bruce Rhinehart, an all-Blue Ridge performer, from Canton, noted for his drive and eye for the bucket. Another outstanding forward was Claude Norman, a long-shot artist. Holding down the pivot was Bill Rice, anace rebounder, and one of the two returning lettermen. Seeing plenty of service was letterman Jim Mulvaney. Will Mahaffey and Teddie Skaggs also saw action.
