Charles Holmes Pettee HARLES H. PETTEE, to whom this vol- ume is dedicated, has been connected with the college almost since its birth. He has been a member of the faculty for the past thirty-two years and has acted as Dean since IBS9. He is a man of sterling character, a thorough scholar, a faithful teacher, and a true friend. His pleasing personality, his genuine interest in the welfare of the individual student, and his life and work among' us, have all made him highly esteemed by those with whom he has come in contact during his long period of faithful service.
