Why, that ' s our basketball team. Yes, I ' ll be glad to tell you about them. But first there ' s Miss Kent over there. She ' s the coach, and if you ' d like to see the chief reason that we have such a good team, just look at her. What she doesn ' t know about basketball is not worth knowing — and she knows how to put it across, too. Of course, that ' s Margaret — the captain — and there are so many nice things to say about her and so few words to say them with that I hardly know where to begin. You know, she ' s the best all-round girl in school, so being our captain is just one of her many stellar roles. And being captain isn ' t the extent of Margaret ' s usefulness. She plays the old game with speed, with surety and with strength — in other words, with her head. Along with her playing she has a spirit of interest, loyalty and co- operation that makes us hate to lose Mar- garet — our star player, captain, and all- round good sport. You say that girl is mighty little to be a basketball player ? Well, all I can say is, Tope may be little, but when it comes to basketball, she ' s also mighty loud. When Ruth has the ball, it just seems that the goal is a magnet, and all she has to do is give the ball a start and it goes right in. That pretty little girl on the right is Pauline McCord. She ' s just a freshman, and she hasn ' t had time yet to show all that she can do ; but as fast a player and as good a shot as she is now, by the time she ' s a senior I ' ll be sorry for those who come up against her. Melba Griffin graduates this year, and how we hate to lose her. Her floor work is always sure and speedy, and when it comes to good, steady guarding, Melba is mighty hard to beat.
