Graduate student hoped to discover a ne w method to combat flies. Dr. Elmer R. Kiehl, dean of the College of Agriculture. Ag School Purchased Unique K-40 Machine The College of Agriculture has enlarged its facilities rapidly in a number of areas. Keeping pace with the con- tinuous development of specialized agricultural fields, the college added several new departments including food sci- ence and nutrition, genetics, atmospheric science, plant pathology, and agronment. The construction of several new buildings was begun among which were an Animal Science Research Center and a Livestock Center. One unique facility added to im- plement research and laboratory study in the fields of genetics and nutrition was a Low Level Counter KK-405. The machine, the only one of its kind in the country, is useful in counting radioactivity in animals and will be used to learn more about heredity and the digestive system.
